Irkutsk – Olkhon Island


DAY 1 - Irkutsk

  • In the morning you will meet your tour guide in the lobby of the designated hotel (exact hotel address and meeting time will be communicated well in advance per email; private airport pickup and shuttle service available for a small additional fee).

  • Introductory briefing about the region, the route and the set of rules to observe while in the Baikal National Park.

  • Soviet Irkutsk sightseeing and boat ride along the mighty Angara River.

  • Lunch, dinner and overnight in Irkutsk.

DAY 2 - Olkhon

  • Transfer by car and speedboat to Khuzhir, the main town on Olkhon, an otherworldly beautiful island located just a few hundred metres off the western shore of the lake.

  • Free afternoon on Olkhon island: go wild and let your senses guide you!

  • Lunch, dinner and overnight in Khuzhir.

DAY 3 - Olkhon

  • After breakfast we'll head up to Khoboy, the northern tip of the island, mainly inhabited by the indigenous Buryat people.

  • Traditional Buryat lunch.

  • After lunch we'll visit Peschanaya, an abandoned Soviet settlement with a dark history to tell.

  • Transfer back to Khuzhir and relax in a typical Siberian bath house.

  • Dinner and overnight in Khuzhir.

DAY 4 - Olkhon and Irkutsk

  • We'll spend a last lazy morning in Khuzhir enjoying the slow pace of local life and the stunning beauty of the surrounding nature.

  • After lunch we'll slowly head back to Irkutsk for the night.

  • Dinner and overnight in Irkutsk.

DAY 5 - Flight back home or transfer to further destinations  

  • After enjoying a last Siberian breakfast together we'll take care of your transfer to the airport/train station of choice.

  • For those flying out: transfer to Irkutsk International Airport for your flight back home.

  • For those wishing to take the train/bus to reach further destinations: transfer to the train/bus station.

  • End of the tour.

Regular monthly departures

The price includes: double/twin room accommodation (single supplement: 18 euros/night), private transport in the region (jeep or minivan + ferry), entrance fees to the attractions listed in the itinerary, guiding and translation service.

The price does not include: international flights, transport to and from the airport of arrival/departure (35 euros/ride), meals, drinks and tips, visas if required, entrance fees to attractions not listed in the itinerary, insurance.
