Our scheduled group departures don't suit your plans? If you are travelling with friends and there are 5 or more of you, you can set your own dates and we will organise a tour just for you without charging any additional fee. If you are travelling solo or with less than 4 companions we will organise a slightly more expensive tailored tour according to your time schedule and specific geographical preferences.

Warning: entry to Bangladesh will be refused to Israeli passport holders and travellers with any evidence (stamp, visa, permits) of visiting Israel


Shorter versions of the following 18-day itinerary are to be arranged for those travellers with less than ten days available for their holiday. For instance, a one-week route that includes both a trip on the Rocket and a visit to the Sundarbans costs as low as 1180 €. Feel free to contact us for further itinerary ideas and detailed quotes.

DAY 1 - Dhaka  

  • Our tour guide will meet you in the arrival hall of Dhaka International Airport (exact meeting time will be communicated well in advance per email in accordance to your flight schedule).

  • Introductory briefing about the region, the route and the set of rules to observe while travelling in Bangladesh.

  • We'll spend the day exploring Dhaka, a gargantuan megalopolis that will amaze - and sometimes overwhelm - you with its fair share of ancient architectonic wonders, colonial grandeur, bustling markets, odd sights and super-friendly and über-curious local population.

  • Lunch, dinner and overnight in Dhaka.

DAY 2 - Rocket

  • After a lazy morning in town we will enjoy a short boat ride on the river Buriganga on a wooden rowboat and embark on some urban exploration around the intricate maze of alleys and shops in Dhaka Old Town.

  • After lunch we'll then board the Rocket Paddle Steamer, a legendary vessel from the colonial times still cruising on a daily basis across the waterways of Southern Bangladesh.

  • Dinner and overnight on the Rocket.

DAY 3 - Bagerhat and Mongla

  • After a colonial breakfast on the Rocket we'll dock at Hularhat and drive to the ancient town of Bagerhat, where we'll pay a visit to the 15th-century UNESCO-heritage Lost City of Khalifatabad.

  • We'll then spend the day touring the marvellous mosques and crumbling buildings of Bagerhat (Chunakhola Mosque, Bibi Beguni Mosque and Singair Mosque) as well as the splendid shrine of Khan Jahan Ali, the Turkish holy man who came to spread Islam in the region, and Kodla Moth, a gracious Hindu temple from 17th century.

  • We'll then move towards the gritty port town of Mongla, the gateway to the Sundarbans National Park.

  • Dinner and overnight in Mongla.

DAY 4 to Day 6 - Sundarbans National Park

  • Early in the morning we'll board our boat to the Sundarbans National Park.

  • We'll spend three full days enjoying the many natural and cultural wonders of the park.

  • Highlights of your Sundarbans adventure include: row-boating around the intricate network of waterways in the Kochikhali Wildlife Sanctuary, swimming and sunbathing at the lost beach of Jamtola, jungle hiking in Kotka, tiger tracking and birdwatching.

  • Dinner and overnight on the boat.

DAY 7 - Rajshahi, Khulna and Putia

  • We'' transfer to the Khulna, a major transport hub, and board a rickety Bangla train to Rajshahi, a major urban, commercial and educational centre of North Bengal.

  • After lunch we'll visit the ancient town of Puthia, where we'll visit gorgeous Hindu temples and historic Muslim palaces.

  • Dinner and overnight in Rajshahi.

DAY 8 - Kusumba, Somapura, Mahasthangarh and Bogra

  • In the morning we'll head to Kusumba, a place famous for its beautiful stone mosque from the Bengal Sultanate.

  • We'll then drive to Paharpur and visit Somapura Mahavihara, a Buddhist monastery from the 8th century and arguably the most impressive archaeological site in Bangladesh.

  • We'll then continue to Mahasthangarh and tour the ruins of the oldest urban settlements in Bangladesh (3rd century BC) before eventually reaching the thriving town of Bogra for the night.

  • Dinner and overnight in Bogra.

DAY 9 - Jamuna Chars

  • After breakfast we'll drive to Sariakandi and visit the nearby chars (river islands) along the Jamuna river.

  • We'll spend the first half of the day with the people of the chars and learn more about their traditional way of life and how the cope with the frequent natural catastrophes linked to global warming.

  • After lunch we'll then head back to Dhaka, where we'll enjoy a relaxing evening at our hotel.

  • Dinner and overnight in Dhaka.

DAY 10 - Tea Plantations and Tribal Villages

  • In the morning we'll move to lush valleys of Srimangal and spend the day touring the world-famous tea plantations of the region (tea-tasting session included) and the tribal villages scattered across the hills surrounding the town.

  • In the afternoon we'll head to Srimangal proper for a chill-out afternoon in town.

  • Dinner and overnight in Srimangal.

DAY 11 - Lawachara National Park

  • Early morning hike through the Lawachara National Park, where we'll be able to spot colourful birds and rare mammals, such as the Hollock Gibbons.

  • After lunch we'll continue our tour to the tea fields of the area and add a visit to the rubber plantations and the pineapple gardens.

  • Dinner and overnight in Srimangal.

DAY 12 - Bangla Train

  • We'll spend a lazy morning in Srimangal enjoying the fresh air and the relaxed atmosphere of the place.

  • We'll then board a rickety Bangla train back to Dhaka, where we'll arrive in the late afternoon.

  • Dinner and overnight in Dhaka.

DAY 13 - Sonargaon

  • After breakfast we'll drive to Sonargaon, the ancient capital of Bengala.

  • We'll tour Sonargaon and its ancient buildings and colourful markets as well as visiting the local bamboo school for disadvantaged children and the abandoned city of Panam Nagar.

  • In the late afternoon we'll head back to Dhaka.

  • Dinner and overnight in Dhaka.

DAY 14 - Rangamati

  • We'll transfer to Dhaka International Airport for our 7.30-am flight to Chittagong.

  • After landing we'll transfer uphills to Rangamati and enjoy a boat ride across the Kaptai Lake.

  • After a deserved siesta, we'll visit some ancient Buddhist temples and tribal markets in the area.

  • Dinner and overnight in Rangamati.

DAY 15 - Bandarban

  • Today we'll head to Bandarban District, an area renowned for its Buddhist temples and splendid nature.

  • We'll spend the whole exploring the Buddhist heritage of Bandarban of the region and relaxing in the fresh atmosphere of the region.

  • In the evening we'll enjoy a boat ride along the Sangu river in the evening, one of the most scenic waterway in Southern Asia.

  • Dinner and overnight in Bandarban.

DAY 16 - Chittagong

  • Today we'll head to Chittagong, Bangladesh's second largest city.

  • We'll spend the day touring the notorious Ship Breaking Yards, a truly surreal place that looks straight out of a Mad Max movie or a post-apocalyptic Japanese manga.

  • We'll then head to Chittagong International Airport for our afternoon flight to Dhaka.

  • Dinner and overnight in Dhaka.

DAY 17 - Dhaka Art Scene

  • Full day devoted to Dhaka Independent Art Scene.

  • We will visit galleries, cafés and bookshops and meet with local artists, bloggers, poets and independent minds alike.

  • You can also go explore the city on your own and indulge in some good old souvenir shopping.

  • Lunch, dinner and overnight in Dhaka.

DAY 18 - Flight back home or transfer to further destinations  

  • After enjoying a last Bangla-style breakfast together we'll take care of your transfer to the airport/train station of choice.

  • For those flying out: we will arrange transfer to Dhaka International Airport for your flight back home.

  • For those wishing to take the train/bus: to reach further destinations, we will arrange transport to the local train/bus station.

  • End of the tour.

The price includes: double/twin room accommodation (breakfast included; single supplement: 20 euros/night), private transport in the region (jeep or minivan), return flight from Dhaka to Chittagong, 1st class train and boat tickets, entrance fees to the attractions listed in the itinerary, guiding and translation service.

The price does not include: international flights and any other flight not explicitly included in the tour price and itinerary, meals, drinks and tips, visas if required, entrance fees to attractions not listed in the itinerary, insurance.

The route of this tour has been carefully designed after several research trips in the region. It is, however, always possible to slightly modify the itinerary according to the needs and the suggestions of the participants. Our motto is flexibility.

Airport pickup/transfer in Dhaka is available for just 35 euros per ride.
